The study, published in the journal Cell Journal, found that those infected with other viruses developed anti-viral T cells that could prevent corona. In medical science this ability is called 'cross-reactivity'.

Scientists also claim that people with mild coronavirus symptoms may develop T cells and antibodies that will protect them from future infections.

Alessandro Seth, co-author of the study, said the T cells could show strong immune responses very quickly. The virus tries to spread through the body but the immune system removes it.
